Orlanne

UStart Alumna

Orlanne Guiot, our UStart Alumna is a Master’s student at the Louvain School of Management and the Founder of Woman Face, an online platform that helps women with cancer.

A member of the UStart Family

Our UStart Alumna began her academic path at UCLouvain in 2016, where she now holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Management. An academic field she chose a little bit by “default”. Indeed, Orlanne only enjoyed her studies in her third year when she took an elective course called Entrepreneur’s Mindset, a real eye-opener for the rest of her journey.’ In the meantime, she applied and joined UStart Louvain-la-Neuve where she is currently the Advisory Manager of the UStart Services department.

An experience she defines as being decisive in her desire to become an entrepreneur. Self-awareness, confidence, experience, etc. These are the different characteristics that Orlanne attaches to UStart and that have been for her a springboard to the world of entrepreneurship.

As soon as she graduated from UCLouvain and joined UStart, Orlanne obviously decided to follow a Master’s degree in Management and Entrepreneurship – CPME, the flagship entrepreneurial major of the Louvain School of Management.

“It is thanks to UStart that I started entrepreneurship so early”

The beginnings of Woman Face

In 2019, Orlanne launched Woman Face! But where does this project to support cancer patients come from? The whole project began when Orlanne’s mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2018. At that time, whether they, his family or his entourage, were very little informed about what cancer really was. Driven by a desire to launch her own project, inspired and led by the cause of people with cancer, Orlanne strived to find an equivalent to the pink box that women receive after childbirth that would allow them to accompany people diagnosed with cancer throughout their treatment. An idea that will soon become a reality! Indeed, in January 2019, when it was in the middle of the exam period, our Alumna had already created the name, the logo, the brand, … of her project! A strong sign of determination!

In February 2019, the examination period having ended, Orlanne fully focused on Woman Face and created a Facebook page where she wrote articles to support and inform cancer patients.

But driven by her entrepreneurial spirit and unbreakable lust, she wants to push her project to a higher level – and that’s what she does. Her project: to create a platform where every woman with cancer will find the product, service, tip, advice and comfort during her treatment AND also the “Box FeelGood“, a box containing samples and information bags that will be given to them at the beginning of their treatment.

Determination and motivation playing their role, Orlanne decides to participate in an acceleration program to give a boost to her project while she was still in the middle of exams. The path is not always the easiest tells Orlanne. Out of 500 candidates, she has the chance to be selected from 50 projects. But it didn’t stop there! After a month of acceleration at BeCentral, she qualified for the final where the 6 finalists had to pitch in front of a jury of entrepreneurs and an audience of 150 people. A new and challenging experience for our young entrepreneur, but it paid off because she won the acceleration program and benefited from an article in ELLE Magazine and the support of Livetech Brussels (like another UStart alumnus, Louis-Philippe BROZE).

But above all, this experience was an important milestone for the project because since its win, many of the big names in the press have wanted to know more about Woman Face, such as Flair and L’Avenir.

Even if the Woman Face platform is fully operational, Orlanne still wants to launch the “Box Feel Good” in the long term. That’s why she and her company have just joined the Yncubator, the incubator in Louvain-la-Neuve since this year.
